Nethers, Spank Rock and Girl Talk, Oh My!

Kneel As a rather fervent concert goer, I've been watching my October Outlook calendar with alternating excitement and dread as my concert calendar gets more and more crowded. This all came to a head yesterday as I started putting in the DAMfest schedule and noticed a whole bunch of scheduling conflicts in the making. Area indie rock fans are going to have some tough choices to make the last full week of October.

Thursday, Oct. 26th:
The National, Nethers, Devestations @ Black Cat
The Rapture, The Presets @ 9:30 Club (Late show)
Lisa Germano, Beauty Pill @ Iota
Cold War Kids, Soft Complex, The Oranges Band, Bellflur @ DC9
DJ Spooky, The Gray Kid, Person @ RnR Hotel

Friday, Oct. 27th:
Spank Rock, Rod Lee, Monster maker (feat. Sharkey, C Rayz Walz) @ Black Cat
The Dresden Dolls, The Red Paintings @ 9:30 Club
Jay Bennett, These United States, Death Ships @ Iota
Olivia Mancini and the Housemates, Let's French, Nunchucks, The English Department @ The Velvet Lounge
Travis Morrison, Longwave, Hopewell, Falcon @ RnR Hotel
Laura Burhenn, Decibully, Carol Bui @ The Red & The Black

Saturday, Oct. 28th:
The Wrens, +/- (Plus/Minus), Palomar @ Black Cat (Mainstage)
Bliss w/ special performance by Girl Talk @ Black Cat (Backstage)
Lady Sovereign, Young Love @ 9:30 Club (Early show)
Middle Distance Runner, Hail Social, Telograph @ Iota
De Novo Dahl, Bound Stems, Bishop Allen, Forget Cassettes, Pela @ DC9
Washington Social Club, Nethers, Stock Market Crash @ RnR Hotel

And that's not even counting shows by Mojave 3, Tilly and the Wall and The Decemberists that bookend the week. Getting all these shows in the span of a month would be wonderful. Having them all in the span of a week is downright silly. But don't fret. Your intrepid DCist music staff will volunteer their time and eardrums to bring you wall to wall coverage of as many of these great shows as we can.

Oh no, too many choices! My head is seriously going to explode before October is over. At least I'm out of town on the 28th so that's one less decision to make.

thats seriously..great.

I'm sure this is going to make me sound square, but where is the RnR Hotel? And do they have a website?

H St NE, and http://www.redandblackbar.com/

We did a story on the Rock N Roll Hotel In August.

Yes, its on H Street NE, but the URL is http://www.rockandrollhoteldc.com/portal/

Actually, that link is for The Red and The Black -- on the same block as the Rock & Roll Hotel, and owned by the same people, but a different venue. The R&R Hotel site is rockandrollhoteldc.com

BISHOP ALLEN.

OH! But you forget that the Smashing Blumpkins will be playing the skate park on 9th St. on Saturday, Oct. 28th!

DCist Kyle: 50 words counts as "a story" on the Rock and Roll Hotel these days? What is this, the Express?
