The Holiday season is in full swing in NYC, with holiday lights in Brooklyn, a giant snow globe in Bryan Park and Chanukah specials for ham. One citizen decided to go vigilante on annoying car alarms, a murder suspect used a fake Asian accent on the stand and a video of a man being beaten up by teenage girls on a subway shocked the city. And we interviewed soon-to-be-leaving-Gawker editor Choire Sicha, who said,......

We've known for the last year that famous Georgetown eatery Nathan's wasn't long for its current location. Owner Carol Joynt has been pretty open about her plans to relocate by April 2009, when her lease runs out. Since then, speculation as to what kind of business will nab the prime spot on what's seen as the toney neighborhood's most important intersection has been a popular topic. This morning, an alert tipster pointed us to this......

About 100 people were lined up outside the Apple Store in Clarendon at 2:45 p.m. today in advance of the 6 p.m. release of the wildly anticipated new iPhone. The first people in line arrived at 8:15 p.m. last night to stake out their ground, though at the halfway point, about 50 people in, one man said he had only been there since noon. Bostonist was happy they finally found an Anna Nicole Smith connection to their fair city and that an Apple Store was opening up. They were less happy that new rules have been established limiting underage shows and that their Governor is spending......

Today's Opinionist was written by Arlington resident Freya Estreller. Since the majority of my friends live in D.C., getting them to trek out to Arlington can sure be a tough sell. So what if I want to pay lower taxes and car insurance rates, live in a spacious house with a backyard, and drive my car that I park for free to Taco Bell at two in the morning? Does my social life really have......

Perhaps its the dearth of submissions, or maybe we've been watching too much Justice League Unlimited, but recently Ask DCist has stopped waiting for questions and taken to scouring the city for citizens in need. Sadly, as internet geeks our powers are pretty much limited to answering questions. Also, in lieu of a badass orbital command center with sophisticated remote sensors, we're pretty much stuck with our couches and RSS readers. But that won't stop......

Good morning, Washington. Today the temperatures will be in the mid 90s. With a heat index back up over 100 this afternoon the weather services has issued a heat advisory in effect from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m., so stay cool. Looking for something to do? Ben Folds is at Wolftrap, George Washington University is showing "Finding Neverland," and the National Building Museum is screening "How to Succeed At Business Without Really Trying," in the......
