It's almost Turkey Time, but that doesn't mean DCist readers weren't posting good stuff. The comment of the week goes to voteprime, who responded to the morning roundup article about intersex fish: Potomac River's Father: D+? D+?! Why can't you be more like you cousin, C&O Canal! Potomac River: But Dad, I thought you'd be proud of my intersex fish. Nothing I ever do is good enough for you! grumble grumble...stupid canal...grumble grumble...outdated mode of......

Salad days are usually something we look back on with a mix of nostalgia and embarrassment, but the folks at Chop't Salad are embracing them from the get go and celebrating them as soon as they kick off. How? Free salad. Penn QuarterChinatown's newest resident is throwing the doors of their first Washington location wide open today with free salad for all who stop by. The idea behind Chop't is customization. With a bevy of......

TUESDAY Got someone in your life who neatly fits within the Young Adult demographic? They’d be pleased as punch to meet China Mieville, whose new fantasy novel, Un Lun Dun, reads like a Pan’s Labyrinth without all the blood-spatter and heavy overtones of European fascism. And, yeah, you grown-ups will probably dig it as well. Politics and Prose, 5015 Connecticut Ave NW, 7 p.m. WEDNESDAY There was a time when “hooking up” really meant something.......

We thought even more about the subject and came up with a better idea. Who would be better at recommending pre- and post-show hangouts than local musicians? So we e-mailed a few......

Though much of D.C.’s ever-diminishing Chinatown can now be found over in Rockville, a few stalwarts remain to pacify the tourist set with beef and broccoli, while delighting locals with more obscure fare. Eat First, along with Full Kee and Chinatown Express, is part of what we consider the trifecta of D.C.’s great Chinatown dining. The tiny vestibule that leads into the restaurant is festooned with all manner of coloful photocopies of local food media......

Great wall of Chinese take-out! Tom over at Unrequited Narcissism has uncovered what could be the most gruesome scandal to hit the District, nay, the entire country in decades. The information he reveals is a call to arms, and when there is war in the name of Butterstick, you can count on DCist to strap on plenty of ammo and indiscriminately shoot into crowds, regardless of the presence of innocent bystanders, as long as we......

In search of cheap eats before a movie at the new Regal multiplex at Gallery Place, DCist wandered the streets of Chinatown in an attempt to asses the recent diminution of traditional businesses and their replacement by big name corporate chow. While McDonalds touted Chinese characters on their facade nary a lo-mien noodle was to be found inside. Pot Belly’s also declared their support of the Chinese culture with a decorative store front Wandering inside......
